Everytime I see John McCain's name mentioned as the next Republican nominee, the only thing that keeps coming to my mind is.....if this is the best we can do this country is in a sorry state.

There is no such thing. Way too early to count anybody out or in. That said, McCain can help his chances a whole lot and it all depends on who he helps support in the midterms.
