I like your prediction--one can only hope. Wouldn't it be grand? Here in Tennessee we have to stop Ford from getting into the senate. Our district is safely Repub. but there are a lot of libs from Memphis to Knoxville. Picking up seats will happen if the GOP would show far more spine. Maybe, just maybe it'll happen anyway.
City areas are the Democratic party base of strength. The dependent vote so to speak.
New York state is the same as Tennessee, vast majority of rural counties vote Republican, cities vote overwhelmingly Democratic. The red vs blue map for the state is actually majority red.
