I just came back from a 3-week visit to South Africa, visitng for the first time in 6 years. While it remains a beautiful country, you can see chaos creeping in everywhere, despite having the biggest per capita government in the world.

There was a highly publicized shootout between 20 robbers and police in which 4 police officers died, and 8 robbers were killed. The robbers seemed to be military trained and organized, and the standoff and shootout lasted for hours. How can one still buy the line that poverty brought on by apartheid is the only cause of crime in South Africa?

The current standing joke in South Africa is that the Minister of Security told South Africans to stop complaining about the crime or leave the country, but the government cannot issue passports for those who want to leave, they have run out of paper to print passports!

Actually crime affects South Africans of every race, creed, income bracket and place of residence. Its like Bladerunner - you venture out at your own risk. The police is overwhelmed, the court system is broken and criminals have no fear of the law. What you're seeing in South Africa essentially is a civilization in its death throes due to the absence of order.

(The Palestinian terrorist regime is the crisis and Israel's fist is the answer.)
