I think the bold is what happened in this case, someone who should not have been in the Army joins and lasts long enough to do damage. It may also be the case that as an anti-social personality Green manipulated the others in the incident. The reports so far indicate that Green did the killing. The others may have feared Green and went along with and concealed the actions.

Sounds like it might be best to wait on the trial to find out what really happened.

A psychiatric condition, anti-social personality disorder is defined as chronic behavior that manipulates, exploits, or violates the rights of others. Someone with the disorder may break the law repeatedly, lie, get in fights and show a lack of remorse. Are you sure this article is not describing Willum Jeffyson Klintoon?

He's innocent until proved guilty. I don't want to hear anything from anonymous sources. Dropping out of school and drinking aren't good but it doesn't make you a Killer. If he did it he needs to be punished. If a government official "leaked" he needs to go to jail too.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case.
Oh, well, that was decent of the officials -- skewer the guy in the press anonymously -- due to the sensitivity of the case. [end sarcasm].

Uh huh. You are right. If he's found guilty, we deal with it but aren't you tired of our military being tried thru the media? This time the charges are against a kid with a history. That settles that.

Please read the affidavit I linked. They have 5 sworn testimonies.
SOI1 was a conspirator and lookout
SOI2, SOI3 were involved
SOI4 knew about it afterwards
SOI5 and SOI2 were on the team sent to investigate the next day.

Interesting! Looks like per the witnesses Green did all the killing and participated in the rape with one other soldier, listed as KP1 in the complaint. There were several soldiers reporting and they were involved, one as a lookout.
Green is being accused by other soldiers involved and not by the media or some dubious Iraqi source as in the case of Haditha.

At first blush, Green sounds like a lying low-life punk.
Although I doubt he cares, he was no doubt directly responsible for the torture and death of two find young warriors, all for revenge... Revenge for what he did to that family.
I really hope I'm wrong, but if I'm right I wonder if it keeps him awake nights.

Don't kid yourself, they would do that anyway.

Let's get Greta Van Sustern on this for the next six months.
While I think rape and murder are sickening, I'm fed up with these stories being reported ad nauseum. Taken to the next step, every rape and murder on the planet should be covered by every "news" media on the planet for at least one year... along with global warming.

What I want to know is why hasn't KP1 been charged with rape, and why aren't all of them being charged with anything in the UCMJ. If they are, why are we just talking about Green? Reading the affidavit, it sounds like he found some like minded folks.

The following is speculation based on the affidavit.
KP1 may already have plea-bargained, in exchange for his testimony against Green. Green is the one who actually committed the three murders.
The others may be formally charged in the future for their participation, but investigation is not complete.
The whole case may be complicated by the fact that Green has already been discharged from the Army and is out of reach of military courts, while the others are not. Two different court systems at work.
