According to NSSF, last years combined sales of firearms and ammunition generated $224.3 million in excise taxes.
That is a whole lot of tax revenue. Gun sales must hae been in the billions.
Peter Hamm, a spokesman for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, remarked, Its the guns that have been around a while that could wind up in criminal hands, he explained, not the guy whos going out and buying a new $700 handgun. . . . The guns that cause the worst problems in this country are not selling for very high prices.
Then why are you guys so intent on harassing us new firearm buyers, jackass? Oh that's right, blame whatever the statistics don't appear easily tied to, but still blame the inanimate object.

"More Guns, Less Crime"---what a surprise!! Someone please page John Lott.
very convenient timing on this. I was just finishing up a paper on the war on guns...
How ironic to see that this fine essay is from the HAWAII REPORTER!
It's my impression that Hawaii is tied with Massachewsits for the title of "most anti-gun state" in the USA.
Am I wrong?
That idiotic claim has been debunked so many times in so many places that it should never be uttered again without being ridiculed.
