Bill and Dick, Osama and Sandy
The Washington Times ^ | July 5, 2006 | Michael F. Scheuer

Posted on 07/05/2006 6:55:58 AM PDT by xsysmgr

With one credible September 11 movie, "United 93," under our belts, it will be interesting to see whether ABC-TV will complete the September 11 Commission's whitewashing of the pre-September 11 failure of U.S. intelligence-community leaders in its forthcoming mini-series based on Richard Clarke's memoir, "Against All Enemies."

Media teasers about the mini-series have said that Mr. Clarke -- the former "terrorism czar" -- and a senior FBI officer, the late John O'Neill, will be the heroes of the saga. If true, and if ABC's fact-checkers are not diligent in verifying Mr. Clarke's stories and claims, the mini-series will be the September 11 commission's dream come true: The Bush administration will be blamed for September 11, the feckless moral cowardice of the Clinton administration will be disguised and Mr. Clarke and Mr. O'Neill -- in my view, two principal authors of September 11 -- will be beatified.

<snip>

So, I look forward to ABC's mini-series, as well as to seeing the quality of the network's fact-checkers. If they do their job well, some of the September 11 Commission's whitewash may start to be peeled away. If they fail, however, the reality that Bill, Dick and Sandy helped to push Americans out of the windows of the World Trade Center on that September morning will be buried in miles of fantasy-filled celluloid.

Michael F. Scheuer, a 22-year veteran with the CIA, created and served as the chief of the agency's Osama bin Laden unit at the Counterterrorist Center.

Wow, that is some pretty strong rhetoric from Mr. Scheuer.

And then Little Dickie Clarke will repeat the movies lies on ABC News were he is their goto "terror analyst".

Probably will be introduced by another ex-Clinton staffer Preppy Stephy!

Hoepfully Fox News and others will make sure Mr. Scheuer is prominently interviewed when this program airs. Perhaps we could get this column to John Stossel for some intervention inside ABC.

Dick Clarke makes me sick. He should be in a monastery somewhere praying for forgiveness from the 3000 dead on 9/11 and their families, and from all the American people for the treasure lost in fighting this war on terror due to his incompetence.

Wow, that is some pretty strong rhetoric from Mr. Scheuer.

Scheuer's an interesting character. He spends half his time bashing the Bush Administration (see PBS special, "The Dark Side") and the other half bashing his former Clinton Administration colleagues. Is he a "let the chips fall where they may kinda guy, or does he want both conservatives and liberals to buy his book(s)?

As for Clarke, if he's a "hero" of 9/11, what did he "apologize to the American people" about in the 9/11 Commission show trial?

I am certain that the MSM will be excited to fully investigate Scheuer's allegations about the rank incompetence and malfeasance of Dickie Clarke, Sandy Burglar, and Bill Clinton, because after all we know how much reporters and editors all want to get to the real facts about the background to the rise of Al Qaeda in the '90s and the resulting plots that killed so many......

Don't know how to judge the swipe at John O'Neill - certainly other accounts have portrayed O'Neill as a heroic figure frustrated at others who didn't take Al Qaeda seriously, and Scheuer clearly thinks that is bunk. Not having been there for such discussions, and with O'Neill dead in the WTC, I don't know how to evaluate what Scheuer is saying. But we certainly know more than enough about Clarke, Burglar, and the Clintonistas to know they should all be hung.........

Didn't Clarke order Bin Laden's family to go back to Saudi Arabia after 9/11? A fact that Michael Moore's idiotic movie tried to blame entirely on Bush.

Your memory of 9/11 things sure rings a bell with me.

I will never forget hearing former CLINTON White House Political Advisor DICK MORRIS confirm on the air that BILL CLINTON personally refused at least 2 free offers from the Sudan, in 1995 & 1996, to give us our No. 1 terrorist enemy OSAMA bin LADEN on a silver platter before he could hit us hard here at home.

The only reason DICK MORRIS couldn't confirm a 3rd refusal was because he was no longer in the CLINTON White House by the year 2000.

(DICK MORRIS was guesting on 'The Judicial Watch Report' National Talk Radio Show after the Attacks of Sept. 11th)

The heroes are those on Flight 93, or those who assisted others to try and get out of the WTC, or those in the Pentagon who risked the building collapsing around them to pull out survivors.

Richard Clarke is a disgusting excuse for a human being. That is all that I have to say about him.

Washington Journal had Mr. Scheuer on for about half an hour early this morning, and he was excellent. I recommend going to the cspan.org website and watching it. I don't know how soon it will be available there.

He goes further in-depth on how many times Bin Laden could have been killed, or even captured.

He is a conservative Republican, says he voted for Bush twice, but does not think we should have gone into Iraq. I wish he would have had time to go into that further. Very interesting and articulate man.

When does the ABC miniseries air? before or after the November 2006 election... if they can't drive the GOP's numbers into the ground through the news side, maybe they are going to try to do it through teh faux news side.

I couldn't find any date for the ABC miniseries.

I did find some older info on a theatrical version, set to be released in 2008. Directed by Paul Haggis, of Crash fame. Starring Sean Penn as Richard Clark. I'm not kidding.

I guess they scrubbed the big screen version for the miniseries.
