"Genesis 1:20-21 says that God created all the creatures that live in the water. He created a great variety of perfectly formed fish, including the archerfish with all its special features."

My copy of the bible mentions nothing about archerfish.

My copy of the bible doesn' talk about the process God used to create all the creatures of the water, or the time frame.

I do know that God created the universe, and in doing so, created the laws of physics that govern all of His creation.

I know that through the intelligence God has given us, learned men have been discovering the laws of physics, God's law, and have used this knowledge to gain an understanding as to the Earth and life evolved.

Sciences like stratigraphy and processes like radiometric dating, all based on the laws of physics, laws created by God, show that life on this planet evolved over a period of immense time.

Sure it does...It says he made the fish after their kind...And it says he did it in one day...

So how do you know this if you don't know the other???Your trouble is you don't want to believe what you read...

George, re your post #30, it's terrific and I applaud you for it. But I want to gently comment on your tagline.

Many atheists may be narrow-minded, but religious people can be narrow-minded also. Take, for example, Muslims who believe in the strict wahabbi form of Islam. They are certainly narrow-minded. So much, in fact, that they refuse to join the 21st century, preferring instead to torture and slaughter people who do not share their religion.

Yup, let's ask which copy of the Bible people are reading here, 'cus the translation into Old English, and the translation into modern language (especially the New American version) has changed a lot of the content. My family's copy, which is a hand-copied treasure from Ireland C.A. 1530, says In Genesis 1:21 (I'm translating from Latin here, so my own schooling will have altered some words here, too) "Thus he brought into being the creatures of the sea and all moving things with which the waters contain, according to their form, and all the winged creatures accrding to their form."

Luckily for me, my own faith has no beef with evolutionary theory, and thus, the above quotation has no disturbing ambiguity for me, as it might for creationists.

Word to the wise, if we're quoting the book: chack which translation you've got, and, if you've got the cash, get an older translation that dates before the end of the middle ages- I've seen better copies than my own, but can't afford them.

Polonium halos in the granite - explain that. Capturing their rings in the granite with their small half-lives totally blows that idea away. The earth formed very quickly.
