I don't think Terri should have had the plug pulled on her.
Nevertheless it would seem to be a valid point of contention that this man's brain cells were still alive but severed, unlike Terri's which had died. How folks judged Terri's "shape" during the debate seemed just too miraculously aligned with what they think should have happened to her, to the point of publishing ridiculous quotes like "I want [to live]."
There should be allowances for:
1) Terri was in terrible shape, but still shouldn't have been starved to death.
2) The Dixie Chicks are a very talented band, but they can go suck eggs for all I care.
And so on. I guess my point is I'm calling BS on anyone but the experts claiming authority to say whether Terri was better than this guy or not.
Just to clarify, I'm not quibbling with the mode of Terri's death. My position is that she should have been given over to the care of her parents.
I suspect these are just code phrases for "If they can't vocally protest or physically resist, their lives aren't worth living anyway. Kill them, plug them in the ground, save some dough, collect the insurance, and open up a hospital bed. Next."
