I've been told by folks from MI that, with the exception of the Democrat welfare plantation that calls itself Detroit, the state of Michigan is fairly conservative.
Based on my extensive travels during presidential election years, and the admittedly totally unscientific counting of yard signs I would say pretty middle of the road.
Voted 59% in favor of a Marriage Protection Amendment to our state constitution in November 2004, including 52% in the city limits of Detroit -- recently named, supposedly, the most liberal city in America.
