New York Times used the following excuse, "the terrorists know we were going after their finances."

Of course they knew that. They bad guys would try and move money around under false names, companies and foreign countries. When the New York Times gave the details of the operation and the countries helping us, the terrorists knew they had to change to different countries, false fronts, and people. The New York Times did aid and abett and give succor to our enemy. If that is not treason, what the hell is?

There's never been a clearer time when Americans want to see punishment meted out to those who put Americans' lives in danger, and never a time where President Bush has disappointed those expectations utterly and completely.

Much of the MSM will close ranks on this.

They know it was an abomination, but they'll call black white when it comes to taking down President Bush.

They are a despicable lot.

...Also, this wasn’t a secret anyway, because the terrorists knew about it. ...

I wonder how he knows what the terrorists know??

The elites think they are immune to terror attacks.

Wonder how he'd feel if Daniel Pearl were an employee of the NYT.

Exactly. This argument is impossible as it is IMPOSSIBLE to know what the terrorists know unless Keller is in contact with the terrorists. Is Keller saying he's been in contact with the terrorists? Is that what he's admitting?

It's not just Bush, it's all the people we elect to represent us. The meaning of the words treason and sedition have been morphed into synomyms for freedom of speech.

All you say is true. The trouble is, what is the Republican White House, Senate, and House, going to do about it. My guess is, absolutely NOTHING!

Gosh, not a word from the Leftist swine as to the seriousness of leaking this highly-classified program.

No. But they're terribly upset that the nitwit, Plame, had her name released when she sent her hubby on an outing to Africa.

No. Really. They are.

When the elected president allows it to happen.

There's no consequence for their traitorous actions so they have nothing to fear.

N.Y. Times Justifies its Disclosure of Top Secret Program

July 1, 2006

Despite a plea from the Bush Administration, the New York Times ran a story revealing that the U.S. government was tracking terrorists through their bank accounts. The classified information disclosed in the Times piece was obtained from unnamed sources alleged to be working for the CIA.

"The Bush Administration's claim that this disclosure would aid America's enemies is ludicrous," said an unsigned Times editorial. "The Bush Administration is America's most dangerous enemy. Anything we can do to thwart its evil designs is our patriotic duty. In this regard, strange as it might first seem, the so-called terrorists are actually our allies in this fight. It's the old 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' concept. Get used to it."

The Bush Administration voiced its disappointment at the Times willingness to undermine anti-terrorist efforts. "Training, feeding, housing and arming terrorists requires money," said John W. Snow, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury. "Tracking this money through our banking system is one tool we've used to try to prevent attacks on Americans. The effectiveness of this tool has been undermined by the Times article. So, it looks like an elevated level of risk is something else we'll have to get used to, courtesy of the New York Times."

Since the Times story broke banks have reported an outflow of deposits from the accounts being monitored to other banks centered in Europe. Muslim banks are disfavored by terrorists because the Koran prohibits paying interest on deposits. An al-Qaeda training manual urges jihadis to "turn the infidels' sin of usury against them to multiply our resources for carrying out Allah's will."

"The question we start with is, why would you not publish? And sometimes, there’s good reason. When lives are clearly at risk, we often hold back information."

This must have been their thinking when they chose not to publish the Allah cartoons.
