Conservative scribe Ann Coulter cribbed liberally in her latest book, "Godless," according to a plagiarism expert.
John Barrie, the creator of a leading plagiarism-recognition system, claimed he found at least three instances of what he calls "textbook plagiarism" in the leggy blond pundit's "Godless: the Church of Liberalism" after he ran the book's text through the company's digital iThenticate program.
He also says he discovered verbatim lifts in Coulter's weekly column, which is syndicated to more than 100 newspapers, including the Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Sun-Sentinel and Augusta (Ga.) Chronicle.
Barrie, CEO of iParadigms, told The Post that one 25-word passage from the "Godless" chapter titled "The Holiest Sacrament: Abortion" appears to have been lifted nearly word for word from Planned Parenthood literature published at least 18 months before Coulter's 281-page book was released.
A separate, 24-word string from the chapter "The Creation Myth" appeared about a year earlier in the San Francisco Chronicle with just one word change-"stacked" was changed to "piled."
Another 33-word passage that appears five pages into "Godless" allegedly comes from a 1999 article in the Portland (Maine) Press Herald.
Coulter did not respond to requests for comment.

Not when they are identified as quotes. This story says that they were presented in the book as if they were Coulter's own words.

Wonder what Barrie has to say about the 'talking points' memos that are generated from political party/ organization hq's & parroted by the messengers? I suspect that some so-called 'plagarism' is more a function of memory than cut & paste lifts from text and should not be confused with copies from work that originates from orignal research.
So are you saying Coulter is no better than Doris Goodwin? Or that Doris Goodwin is no worse than Coulter?
Plagarism charges usually arise from more that one sentence.
Plagarism is a cousin of intellectual property in a leagal sense. Differentiating between acual work product and knowledge gained from work experience is like trying to sort fly specks out of pepper.
If she really did plagiarize, it is probably not enough to earn her a national holiday. She is still far short of the high standards for plagiarism set by MLK.

The prize won by the book was the Pulitzer, which is essentially an award for liberalism.
In honor of this book, the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation runs a Profile in Courage Essay Contest. It is not clear whether or not the submitted essays must be the entire work of the entrants, or whether "research assistants" may do some or all of the work, as was the case for JFK's book.

No, what he's saying is that some of Coulter's columns contain unattributed quotes from other sources.
I wasn't referring to the content, but rather things like proper attribution, accurate quotes, etc. In other words, make the opposition attack your ideas - don't give them an easy out by facilitating attacks on your intellectual honesty.
