AM, would you please replace Race's posting with OmahaFields reply. For some reason Race's paragraphing and line follow through didn't come through.
This is a very important posting, and I will be referencing it and the link in a lot of emails this week.
Thanks.
Race thanks for posting this, and OmahaFields thanks for your reply with the paragraphs and appropriate line spacing.

Race thanks for posting this.
Hopefully all Marines, those on active duty and all Marines, who served with honor for our country and us will be the point people on this issue.
The rest of us, the Navy people, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard will be supporting these brave Marines and the Navy Corpman, you and watching your 6's.
In this situation, like the Murtha situation, many of us feel that our Marines should be at the point. The rest of us then need to support your cause with money, emails, letters and whatever.
I have no idea how many Marines are in private life in America, today. The number is massive, and if they actively support these Marines, they will be heard and respected by the good Americans, senators and congressional reps..

I once guarded he brig on ship for 30 days, and while there was no Red Cross on board, the families of the 2 guys held were notified through the Red Cross of them being in the brig Could be. Never having been in the brig or having to visit anyone in the brig I honestly don't know. But I'd never heard of the Red Cross getting involved in state-side correction facilities.

The Marine Corps is many things, but one thing it is NOT is unjust to its own..
I remained convinced these Marines and their Corpsman will be found innocent if innocent and guilty if guilty.
They will be judged by their PEERS..
They will be judged by men who have faced the same life threatening and adrenalin pumping situations...
At the core, it's STILL the Corps.

Senator Ted Kennedy's response stated that he cannot get involved with seeing the families best interests regarding their son due to a CONFLICT OF INTEREST
Outrageous of the Swimmer
My brother-in-law a Marine traveling to his AIT station in 1988, was robbed and killed at a rest stop in Arkansas. The shooter confessed and agreed to a life sentence (as opposed to the death penalty)and agreed to testify against his accomplice. He is now trying to get his sentence commuted to a specific number of years so he will be eligible for parole.
I contacted my Congressman here in Nebraska, Lee Terry.
His office told me that while he (Terry) couldn't make a specific reccomendation to the parole board or the Governor. His office told me that they COULD step in if our family wasn't accorded rights to speak to the board, and gave us numerous tips about how to contact the board members and what rights we had to be heard. They were extremely helpful
The MA Senators and Congressmen can't obviously influence the Court Martial as to the guilt or innocence of the accused but he should be doing all he can to make sure the Marine and his famliy are given every right they are entitled to.

Amen, brother from an old Squid.
I wonder how many of the perfumed Jagoff Princes and Princesses who went into the Jags during the Clintoon years are behind these situations. Any Jag lawyer who was commissioned, particuliarly at a higher than normal level during the Clintoon years, should be investigated. Most are probably timebombs installed by the Clintoons to harm our military and in this case Marines and the Navy Corpman.

Race, I was with a Unit in '66, that had a large number of General Courts, the only problem was they kept getting the boot on review. The BN Commander was trying to make a name for himself, he and the Brigade Commander got their aholes enlarged by MACV and told to cut the S**t.
This sounds like the crotch is trying to make some PC points for what ever reason. Remember Faluga(sp)?

Several things stirred my interest:
1. The lawyer who is delaying the trial. This would put the event right at November - which could be good or bad. Certainly the dems will exploit that all summer .. but having an on-going trial all summer in an election year might have been worse.
2. I'm not surprised at the dems' lack of assistance. They already believe our soliders are ALWAYS doing this kind of stuff - Kerry was backed by Teddy in his anti-war veterans organization.
3. I'm really concerned that these parents were not given proper notice.
By the way, Duncan Hunter (who is my rep for San Diego) or Brian Bilbray or Darrell Issa - might be the ones to contact since the men are being held at Camp Pendleton (which is just up the road). Just a thought!
All three of them are very pro-military.

BTTT. These young defenders of freedom and their families deserve our support.

It's things like this that keep the good people at FR, despite the little nippy trolls and malcontents that come on here and try to make trouble. Just exactly right Allegra. Occasionally a break may be needed, but I always return. Stay safe as we all fight the good fight.
