I have heard (and cannot verify) that the current limit for "Legal" Mexican un-skilled green-card AND visa entrants to the USA is 10,000/year.
If that is so, then the number is ridiculously low.
However, I still back Sensenbrenner's bill top-to-bottom. But the number has to be changed--maybe to 500K-1MM/year.

I saw Robert Rector on Lou Dobbs show and he said 10 million illegal aliens was what they used to make their extrapolations (calculations) but that 20 million illegals (Bear Stearns estimate) was very very possible. He admitted 10 million was low ball number

With all due respect, get educated friend.
This does NOT just include Mexicans.
In fact, the current Senate bill allows increases in the cap for H1-B visas to 125,000/year from 65,000/ year immediately plus a 20% increase per year for every year this quota is filled.
H1-B visas are for TECHNICAL expertise such as engineers and scientists.
The 65,000 per year has already hurt the American engineer a LOT. For the first time in my career salaries for EE's are going down.
This is NOT just about unskilled or semi-skilled workers.
It will hurt the whole damn middle class!
Who in the hell are these people who were whining about not enough jobs in the 2004 election who are now supporting this Senate proposal?
I don't know what you do for a living, but somewhere, in some other country, there is someone waiting to come here and do your job for half of what you do it for!
I hope the House carries through with its promise to hold public hearings on the Senate bill.
Americans will be disgusted at the contents of it!
It is obvious that the Senate doesn't give a damn about the average Joe's well being... it's all about big business.
Right, it makes no sense that the same members who defend the N.Y. Times abuse of freedom of the press are the same ones trying to ban flag burning.
A conservative estimate of legal immigrants alone who will enter the country within the next 20 years is 100 million because the Republicans inserted a provision into the immigration "reform" bill to quintuple immigration levels. The Republican Party has become the scourge of the nation. The Republicans are so afraid that Big Business will stop contributing to their campaigns that are supporting legislation to give the immigrant-bribing Democrats, who are hellbent on eradicating American identity and subjugating white men, a permanent majority.
