The Wind and the Lion is truly one of my favorite movies of all time, mostly because it is true (except for a bit of Hollywood BS, which we all expect). TR was a man's man, and other nations definitely didn't mess with us when he was in charge.
What I wouldn't give to hear a President utter, "Perdicaris alive or Raisuli dead." First, of course, because 99% of the press & media would be utterly clueless as to what it meant. Second, and better, would be the apoplexy that would result when they figured it out. Maybe you'd even get a few fat, drunken, Oldsmobile-driving murderers out of the Senate the quick way. :>)
