I was going to see this UNTIL I heard that the Hollywood producers decided to delete "and The American Way..." from Superman's motto (Truth, Justice and the American Way.)
It's added to the growing list...(starting with Jane Fonda) of actors, movies etc. whom I won't spend money to see.
The omission of "and the American way" is the least of this movies problems. It was awful.
I've seen 2 movies in the past five years: National Treasure and Miracle.
Miracle was disappointing in that Herb Brooks seemed to be the only American alive in 1980 who was unaware of the Cold War. He seemed to never see the Russians as anything other than the world's best hockey team. At first I bristled at this portrayal, thinking it must have been added in after Brooks died, but then I remembered that he coached France in one Olympiad.

Check out this, instead. I rented the DVD a few days ago and really liked it. It was better than most films in the theaters! |
What does he say now? I can't believe how much the movie has made already. I guess most people don't care about that line. It has made 32 million and has not even been in full release yet. This weekend it will pull in a lot, but next weekend it Prirates!!! That will be a great movie.
That's when we decided not to go see it either!
Actually, "the American Way" was not used all the time until the '50s during the Cold War Era. It was said once on the radio show when things weren't going well for the Allies in WWII (e.g., Rommel in North Africa, the Japanese still attacking in the Pacific after Midway). I think the comic just had "truth" and "justice." After WWII when the world learned about the full horror of the Nazi concentration camp, Pa Kent told Clark that he was fighting for "truth, tolerance, and justice."
