Allison Mack of Smallville was asked why the show was a success and she said, "I think it’s because the show has this American feel to it. A vibe of pro-America, and American values and all that stuff. It’s a very traditional show." She gets it. Plus, she's really cute. ;-)

The Evolution of Superman's Costume

1934: Siegel & Shuster's original vision of Superman.

1978: Superman movie pays homage to S & S vision.




2001: Smallville television series "triumphantly rethinks an American classic" by keeping S & S colors while dropping tights, cape, and chest insignia.

2006: Superman movie noirishly retrogrades to tights, cape, and chest insignia only to end up looking old school IMHO.
