READ: 1 John 5:1-13
These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13
Many true believers in Christ are plagued with doubt about their salvation. Even though they have come in repentance and faith to Jesus as their Savior, they still wonder, Will I really go to heaven?
My late husband Bill often told about something that happened to him when he was 2 years old. One day he disobediently wandered from home and got lost. When his parents realized that he was missing, they went out searching for him. Finally, to everyones immense relief, they spotted their tearful boy and carried him safely home.
Days later, Billy overheard his mother relate this incident to a visitor. When she reached the part where they went out searching for him, Billy began to relive the story. Mommy, Mommy! he sobbed. Did you ever find me? Surprised and deeply touched by his doubt, she embraced him and said, Of course, my child! Dont you remember that happy moment? See, youre with us now, and well make sure that you always are. That comforted Billy, because he took her at her word.
The New Testament letter of 1 John was written to give believers the assurance of salvation. That assurance can be yours as you take God at His word.

I am leaving this morning for Massachusetts to visit my Grandmother, she is now 99.7 years old and fading fast. She has requested to see the men in the family so we are off.
My father drove here from Wisconsin, spent the night here and we are leaving together this morning. I'll be back Tuesday the 4th.
I will grab moments on my brothers computer and post coffee and Military Monday.
Hooray! God bless and guide and sustain you all and return you renewed, built up, and equipped for new ventures in His service, amen.
Bless your Grandmother...wow, nearly a 100 years old. How is everything going?
My middle son getting married in a Hawaiian type wedding on Marco Island in Florida later this month. Pee Wee is going to be in the wedding. They bought him a Hawaiin shirt to wear. I asked for it to be in red, but it will be up to the bride,.Pee Wee will dance down the aisle. He is a real hambone. He looks a lot like Lucy.
Congratulations to your son and his fiancee! Wonderful news :-) Pee Wee in the wedding, I love it...be sure to post a pic of this. Have fun
Lucy and Pee Wee are 2 fine looking pups..we have good taste :-)
Everything is going well. She was so happy to see us, the look on her face made the trip worth it.
Tomorrow her other son will be here so she will have her wish. Her 2 sons, daughter and 2 oldest grandsons will be here.
In the evening I plan on spending some time alone with her, just her, me and the Lord.
:-)
Bless all of you, enjoy your time together.

READ: Exodus 13:17-22; 14:19-20
The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way. Exodus 13:21
The Lord led the children of Israel by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night (Exodus 13:21). Commentator Arthur Pink draws a significant parallel between this cloud in the wilderness and the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer.
Pink points out that just as the cloud was a gracious gift to the Israelites, so the Holy Spirit is a gift to the trusting child of God.
Jesus said, I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper (John 14:16). The pillar of cloud was provided to guide the children of Israel. So too, the Holy Spirit leads the Christian. Jesus said, When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth (16:13).
Even as the cloud remained with Israel in the wilderness, so Jesus promised that the Father would send the Spirit, who would abide with believers forever (14:16). Think of it! God Himself dwells within our hearts. We who know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord are temples of His Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19).
When we are led by the Spirit, our lives will be characterized by love, joy, peace, and self-control (Galatians 5:16,22-23). We will be effective witnesses for Christ as we travel through the wilderness of this world.
Blest Holy Spirit from above
With all Thy quickening powers
Come, shed abroad the Saviors love
And that shall kindle ours. Watts
The power that compels us comes from the Spirit who indwells us.
