Thanks for posting Prime Minister Koizumi's speech. I just got here and worked backwards to the beginning. I've enjoyed reading all of your repartee , but a lot of it is over my head because I haven't kept up with the popular culture. I am either too old or too young or was out of the country at the time to have known Elvis Presley. And there are a lot of celebrity names mentioned on this thread that I have never heard of. But I think it is wonderful that you people have this thread to meet on.

The left hates George W. Bush while the rest of the world is recognizing his steadfast leadership on the very core of our beliefs... and they are that NO HUMAN BEING should be denied Liberty, and that we are the defenders of the Liberty we prize.
Eastern Europe, East Africa, and some parts of the Middle East are facing some very trying times, but that doesn't mean they should ignore their enemies, I would suggest that is's about time the gloves come off

But the Americans were right in front of us -- in fact, came with warm and generous hearts. The Japanese people are still impressed with, they are grateful for the generosity of the United States and the American people. I believe it was this American spirit that lifted the hearts of Japan's people, made Japan's reconstruction possible and built a foundation for the solid friendship between our two nations.
It is such an impressive thing that our two nations, who once fought against each other now share common values and together, as close friends and allies, are tackling of a wide variety of challenges around the world.
The United States is not alone when facing the evils that exist today. The United States is always with its eyes on friends, and Japan stands by the United States of America.

Hi Mike .. you're absolutely right: W inspires great alliances and friendships by the sheer depth and breadth of his decency, integrity and 'misunderestimated' savvy. And, some gloves are definitely coming off in the Middle East. God bless Israel, her leaders, military and people. Hamas needs banished from the face of the earth.
