Why did the U.S. Supreme Court approve of Dred Scott's making of blacks 3/5ths' of a person. Why did SCOTUS approve Plessy v. Ferguson and Jim Crow laws?

Barring the President from taking powers close to dictatorship is not one of them. Trust me guys...SCOTUS stood for our liberties, for our values, and our democracy today.
And we still can deal with terrorists by:
Procedures to follow, in a nutshell.
If Al-Qaeda, try, prove, find guilty or innocent, and either IMPRISON (if guilty) or release (if innocent).
If legitimate POW, hold in appropriate facility humanely with oversight from Congress and SCOTUS, and release after end of our wars.
Simple LEGAL procedures we can follow that maintain our national security AND maintain our rule of law/values.
To say that Bush has assumed powers close to "dictatorship" is bull****. He is dealing with a handful of irregular soldiers captured in a war zone, and who are allied with a terrorist organization that attacked the U.S. on several occasions. If Bush were a dictator, he would have ordered them shot, end of the matter. He wouldn't have had lengthy consultations with his legal staff regarding precedent and the pertinent laws and treaties, and he wouldn't have waited for the Supreme Court to rule. I am really sickened by this casual, flippant use of the word "dictatorship."
Wow! That's an astounding display of "No clue whatsoever of what you are talking about". Astounding especially for someone who claims SOME training in law, but even for one who doesn't.

Grow up. Learn to read. Read what you are commenting on. When you make references, at least be familiar with them. Realize that things have a context and learn about that context.

Wow, you mean ACLU type justice who's clear goal is undermine and deconstruct the Constitution? We have a couple of those on the court right now. Tell Me just how the hell does this help our citizens which is THE ONLY obligation of our constitution and laws and rights? IT DOESN'T! Not one iota. You apparently value the worlds opinion that clearly changes not on set law but whims and feelings at that time. This court clearly did not have our citizens in mind with this decision. Thank God for the 2nd amendment we just might be needing it soon to re establish a lawful Constitutional Government.
