AMC's "Broken Trail" was number one in the ratings Sunday night, besting everything on cable and network television. But it wasn't just the American public who loved the Robert Duvall-toplined Western-the pic was also a hit with President Bush. The movie's star (and Presidential pal) screened the pic at the White House on June 11 and sources say the President enjoyed it. "He was joking during the screening and in good spirits," says one person in attendance.

Yup - I could not find one of when he was tossing out playing cards on dead enemies, or securing the beach for the surfer guy

Brando sleep-walked through most of his movie roles. A GREAT stage actor.

My husband and I loved the movie! I recorded both parts so we could watch it again, and again. Robert Duvall is the last of a dying breed of actors who don't just "act" the part, they "live" the part.

I remember the first thing I ever saw Duvall in. It was the 25th anniversary of The Twilight Zone and the producers showed a never-before-aired hour long episode that had been colorized. Around 1983-84. It starred a young Duvall playing a quiet office worker that spent his daily lunch time at a local museum where he became increasingly infactuated with a doll house and the beautiful young lady inside. Great show.

I remember that...the Twilight Zone did a season of hour-long shows that are rarely seen in syndication.

Ain't "Secondhand Lions" great! My favorite quote from Duvall:
I'm Hub McCann. I've fought in two World Wars and countless smaller ones on three continents. I led thousands of men into battle with everything from horses and swords to artillery and tanks. I've seen the headwaters of the Nile, and tribes of natives no white man had ever seen before. I've won and lost a dozen fortunes, killed many men and loved only one woman with a passion a flea like you could never begin to understand. That's who I am. Now, go home, boy!
To: fieldmarshaldj
Hey, that's right! I forgot about that. In fact, Duvall maintains a home near Charlottesville. My sister used to work for Enterprise-Rent-A-Car, and she used to have to deliver rentals up to his place.
