Richard Petty, the winningest driver in the history of NASCARs premier series, will be reunited with his 1972 Dodge Charger race car next month in England in one of the largest and most diverse celebrations in motorsports the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Held on the grounds of historic Goodwood House in West Sussex and hosted by the Earl of March, the Goodwood Festival of Speed celebration (July 7-9) brings together the greatest competition cars and drivers from all eras of motorsports. Petty will drive his restored 1972 Dodge Charger in the Hillclimb competition on the 1.16-mile course, which is the principal attraction of the Festival of Speed. Its one of the 72 Dodge Chargers from Petty Enterprises that carried Petty to his fourth of seven series championships. In 31 starts in the car, Petty had eight wins along with 25 top-five and 28 top-10 finishes. Its an honor to represent Dodge at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, said Petty. Its such a prestigious event and one that is popular worldwide. The names that have been a part of this Festival throughout the years are true champions. Its always special when youre invited to be a part of something as big as this. Spectators will not only get to see Petty and his 1972 Dodge Charger in action, but will also see former Formula One driver Jochen Mass pilot a NASCAR Nextel Cup 2006 Dodge Charger up the hill at Goodwood. Petty will be making exhibition runs in the 72 Dodge Charger all three days during the Festival. Mark McFarland - (Busch Series) Jun 28 0:0 06
Initial reports indicating Busch Series driver McFarlands clearance to race this weekend at Daytona International Speedway proved to be erroneous when additional MRI scans were reviewed by doctors late Tuesday night. As a result, Martin Truex Jr. will step in to drive the JR Motorsportss No. 88 Navy Chevrolet this weekend at Daytona, jayski.com reports.
RotoWire.com Recommends: McFarland injured his shoulder in last weekend's race at Milwaukee in a late-race crash. The strain appears to be worse than first thought, so McFarland will sit-out this weekend. We'll watch McFarland's medical status in the coming days.
I guess it's a lot of responsibility to dump on a 10 year old.
Just took this... he's just sitting out back... staring off into the distance...

How is it you can use Jr 16 times so far but I can only use him 9 times in the season???
Discovery's countdown is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. today, leading up to a launch attempt at 3:49 p.m. EDT Saturday, roughly the moment Earth's rotation carries the launch pad into the plane of the international space station's orbit.
from Spaceflight now.
However, the cloud cover makes the launch iffy... pretty small launch window. They've got until July 19th to get her off the ground.
Warning young Will...DOES NOT COMPUTE
IROC is on Thursday.
