Mexico City, Jun 28 (EFE).- Authorities here expressed regret Wednesday over the execution of Mexican citizen Angel Maturino Resendiz, the notorious "Railroad Killer," at a prison in Huntsville, Texas.
Resendiz, sentenced to death in 2000 for the rape-murder of a Houston doctor but also believed responsible in a dozen other slayings, was executed Tuesday night by lethal injection "despite medical evidence about the severe mental disturbances he suffered," the Mexican foreign ministry said in a communique.
A Texas court ruled last Wednesday that Resendiz, who asked for forgiveness before being executed and said he deserved his fate, was mentally competent for the application of capital punishment. Both his defense lawyers and Mexican diplomats filed multiple appeals challenging that ruling, but they were rejected.
The Mexican government, in commenting on the execution, noted its own "absolute opposition to the death penalty." Lawmakers here officially abolished capital punishment in June 2005, more than 40 years after the country's last execution. EFE gt/dr

So, what are we to make of this? Mexico opposes the death penalty. Really? Consider all of the deaths in Mexico at the hands of the government there. Death for being in the wrong drug cartel - meaning one that is in competition with the official Mexican government drug cartel, and we know there is one. Or being murdered in a Mexican government jail or prison for being an American who had an automobile accident in Tijuana. Or even for being a Border Patrol Agent on the US side of the border when the Mexican army decides to go north for firearms qualification. Mexico can go to hell, but that would be a step up.
So he was a retarded Mexican that killed people. He's dead, problem solved.
Cry me a river.
Yep. "Shot while trying to escape."
Resendiz got what he deserved. He admitted it and recevied his punishment. Case closed Mexico!
The TDC is making room as quickly as possible for more convicted felons. Good job people, keep the destruction line moving!
So naturally, they offered an alternative. That Mexico will of course pay lifetime costs of trial and incarceration for all of its citizens here illegally who commit crimes.
/sarcasm
The same reason Mexico lost the Southwest in the first place 160 years ago. They just never learn their lesson about a vacuum.
I remember that case! Charles Ng, one of the worst serial killers of all time-in terms of the depravity of his crimes, if not in the sheer number of victims. His buddy Leonard Lake killed himself , saving the US taxpayer some money.
Mexico, the United States bastard step child that no one really wants or cares for.
Mexico should be happy that we don't shoot all those undocumenteds crossing illegally into our country. We ought to be.
It has a certain appeal, but he'd just come back here. Sigh.
The guy deserved it.
When Mexico stops border incursions from the Mexican Mafia, stops soldiers from invading our sovereignty, helps their own poor out and stops them from becoming illegal aliens, perhaps I will give a damn about Mexican opinion.
So is Laissez-Faire but that has nothing whatever to do with the sense of my original post.
The schmucks need to understand that on our land, our laws apply. Don't like it? Stay in Mexico where the killin's free and easy.
"So he was a retarded Mexican that killed people."
He couldn't have been too retarded. He was able to load, aim and shoot a gun and kill several people. I hope the Hounds of Hell are feasting on his evil carcass right now!
