U.S. rejects limits on personal guns

The United States will oppose any international effort to limit access of U.S. civilians to legal firearms but supports stronger controls on arms imports and exports, a senior State Department official said yesterday.

"The United States believes it is important for all of us to speak with one voice concerning the grave matter of the international illicit trade in small arms and light weapons," said Robert Joseph, the undersecretary of state for arms control and international security.

One side effect of this is, the supply of good surplus rifle ammo like the very good south african 308, the 30 carbine ammo from other countries and ammo for SKS rifles is getting terribly scarce.

Aim surplus, where I get my ammo, says there wont be any foreign 308 rifle ammo to be had before very long. Surplus ammo is the only way some people can afford to practice.

"...Dang, they're talking M1 Garands, M1 carbines and other neat stuff. Boys, you better stock up now before the shortage comes...." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Well, I would, if I had any more room in my gun safe, my gun cabinet, or the various corners where I lean my guns....

It's a shame, but you know a lot of that sketchy foreign surplus ammo is de-linked machinegun ammo, expired ordnance, or ammo that was improperly stored.

I remember that Berdan-primed Argentinian 7.62x51 from a few years ago with the laquered green primer cup that came in stained cardboard 'Cartrucho' boxes. The copper wasn't shiny, the brass was dull, and the cases had nicks and dents. We pulled a bullet to look at the powder, and it was fragmented so much that some of the grains had turned to look like talcum. I dubbed that ammo 'Senor Explodo' and told my pals to stay away from it.

You go fire that crap if you want to, but it's not running through my guns.

Good afternoon.
"• Provide for the destruction of government-declared surplus and illicit weapons."

Time to buy just one more K98K and another 1400 rounds.
