Exactly. To cooperate with the law in this case would be to give up one's 5th amendment right not to incriminate oneself.

And even if I'm not precisely right about that, think about how sad it is that there would be the least suspicion or the least fear of legal hassle concerning the guy who successfully defended himself against Teddy Kennedy's and Nancy Pelosi's children (LBJ being the grandfather on both sides ...)

Government supported hoodlums terrorize a neighborhood and to survive their depredations is to open oneself to criminal prosecution. Parts of this nation have gotten lost.
