Dane is a WINO.
A Winner in Name Only.
The Senate is clearly feeling the heat. Don't mistake a very conservative candidate HOLDING a seat he should OWN for a "victory." Bilbray, a RINO winning solely on illegals, should tell you a lot.
Oh, and Don Goldwater is doing a heckuva job in his AZ governror's race, on this same issue.
He's off to a good start (or at least a change from his past record).
He voted for HR4437 at the end of 2005 and he recently called the Senate bill a freak show at the circus.
Huh it looks like the Senate and House are looking for a compromise, which means your hero tancredo is left out in the cold with him holding the knives he is ready to stab in the back of any conservative who crosses him.
HAHAHAHAH. Yep, "compromise" if I ever saw one.
For the record, the original title of this thread was Jacob Concedes, Cannon Moves on to General Election which was the actual headline from the KSL TV website from which the story originated.
A short time later a moderator altered the title of the thread to read Jacob Concedes [referendum on immigration issue], Cannon Moves on to General Election.
I had no hand in or say about the alteration of the title of this thread.
For the record.

We shall see all knowing one, and after all is said and done IMO, your hero tancredo is the one going to be left out in the cold as it should be, especially with his backstabbing of conservatives such as Chris Cannon and Mike Pence.
If you wish to politcally worship a bridge burner such as tom tancredo, be my guest, that's your right.
And what do you care if TT "burns bridges?" Should we care if Curt Weldon "burns bridges" in his attempt to out the truth of "Able Danger?" Sometimes the "bridge burners" are really the pioneers, and many people fall in behind them. William Seward and Charles Sumner were bridge burners. It hurt their careers, but their IDEAS won eventually and overwhelmingly.
Great tagline. Also, my favorite movie of all time : )
dennisw, read my post #168. It puts everything in perspective, contrary to those who falsely claim the Mormon religion isn't an influence with Cannon on the Illegal immigration shamnesty. He doesn't deny it.

Oh but professor, a challenger candidate(John Jacob) to Chris Cannon spends 6 times the amount of money in 2006, than the challenger candidate to Chris Cannon in 2004 and gets a whole whopping 2% bump(plus all the free publicity(local and national) this race generated).
JMO, professor, you are like tom tancredo, for if there is no Congressional solution, there are no books to sell, but you can always, to paraphrase jesse jackson, to keep the issue(hope) alive.
This stylistic device is extremely annoying. But then, that's what you intended..right?

Yes Ms. Landers.
Telling.
So a moderator violated forum guidelines regarding changing headlines? That's not right at all.

Thanks. I am remembering correctly.
If within Utah, within the Republican Party, within that base, a battle fought on these grounds yields a candidate softer on immigration than his challenger, then it seems unlikely that the average Republican really is "hard" on immigration.
A harder stance may pay off in November, but I doubt that it is quite the issue that thing such as Iraq and "corruption" is. Hanging around the necks of those who backed Iraq is the widespread, almost total belief, that Bush purposefully lied to get us into Iraq. This belief has destroyed his presidency more than the continued hard-slogging that is still going on in Iraq. The average American simply has no faith in Bush or conservatives and that is the bottom line.
"Those who fight for the sovereignty and values of this Country will prevail over those who fight only for political and monetary power."
Common, money's more important. We don't need no stinking sovereignty!
I disagree. The House has an over 95% incumbent retention rate. Once one is in, it is nearly impossible to unseat them. A good example is here in liberal infested Jersey, my congressman, Scott Garrett is one of the most conservative members of the House. People get confortable with their congreemen.
Also, Cannon is good on almost every other issue, so it certainly was not a "slaughter" for us conservatives.
