I'd rather not see the Constitution amended for something like this. Same here. Hate to see the flag burned as much as anyone but it's what it stands for that counts and that's free speech and the 1st Amendment.

Evidently America can find it in it's heart to protect a lot of icons, but not our flag.

Good. I'd rather not see the Constitution amended for something like this. I agree. For the same reason as the gay marriage amendment.
From a personal perspective, if I saw someone desecrating an American Flag, I'd be in jail for attempted manslaughter.
