You betcha Reagan was pro illegal immigation. The bill Reagan pushed for and signed into law in 1986 allowed the numbver of illegal immigrants to go from 2.5 million in 1986 to 12 million today. That law included amnesty which Reagan touted as its greatest provision.

If Reagan was your best then Tancredo has to your worst. Reagan and Tancredo were exact opposites on illegal immigration.

We've been over the Reagan amnesty a million times on this site and it was a policy difference I had. Worse yet since we all agree it was a mistake the last thing we need to do is make the same one over.

Your post, of course, is a total misrepresentation of Reagan's position, vis a vis illegal immigration.

At least Reagan gave the compromise bill he signed an honest title: "Amnesty".

But part of that deal was enforcement in the workplace and on the border.

Of course, those who think and act suspiciously like you and your open borders fellow travelers did not act in good faith on the enforcement side.

Which, of course, is why conservatives today overwhelmingly refuse to be fooled.

Their demand is simple: Enforce the law, and enforce the border. Period.

FALSE, Tator, that bill was worked up under Carter and refined in Congress without Reagan support, EXCEPT the demand that employer enforcement be added and applied.... guess how hard the Dem congress enforced the law while inviting in TWICE as many illegals for amnesty as they sold the program on...over 3M instead of 1.6MM. Reagan signed it but was NOT pro illegal. No reconstructing history allowed.
