Well excuse me, my memory is not perfect... the person for whom the prescription is prescribed IS the person named on the label.
Considering everything the man has been through, pulling this stunt and risking everything over something as silly as 'viagra' was completely moronic.
However, risking everything over 'something' he may have only claimed to be 'viagra', being in possession of a script bottle not in his name, and trying to pass it through customs, was not only moronic, but evident of behavior typical of an addict.
Either way, having experienced the same scenario with a drug addicted family member, me thinks both Rush and his physician are in deep doodoo. I like Rush too much to make excuses for him.
Ok, so now we have gone from him having a prescription to him being an abuser of Viagra. how would you define that? Once a day? Twice a day? Ten times a day? Get a grip.
He had a prescription of Viagra. It wasn't a controlled substance. There is a difference. I don't blame him for trying to keep his private life private. If it was any other person, do you think the sheriff's office would have gone public with it?
I have noticed a bunch of preachy moralizers on these Rush threads....I have been a FReeper for 5 years and lurked for several before that, and I don't recall all this judgemental horse apples happening before.
Well like he says he knows every square inch of his glorious body
Possibly. I don't know enough about all of this to make that judgment. I just understand WHY. How do other celebrities get away with this kind of thing?
Some people think being a conservative means they have an obligation to see the mote in someone else's eye....and call them to task for it.
Wow, hadn't noticed!
see post #99. My statement stands.
I wasn't trying to be critical, I just happen to have about 10 bottles of pills around me right now because of a 4-month battle with back/leg/hip/muscle pain that the doctors haven't quite figured out yet.
I've also been worried about the "doctor-shopping", because I'm getting slightly stronger pain medication (I'm up to low-level percoset) and I think I've had 4 different doctors prescribing pills for me (2 from my primary care office, plus the Emergency room and an orthopedic specialist).
The point being that the label is not the official record -- it's supposed to be right, but sometimes things get mislabeled, and the controlling factor is the actual on-record prescription, which is written by the doctor.
What he isn't doing is asking why you feel the need to ask.
You might be a little kinky to enjoy FR, tried DU?
TT
But in addition to the "pharmacist", there are all those other workers who might get a peak at stuff they aren't supposed to see, cashiers and the like that are certainly not paid high wages.
Of course they would be covered by hippa, but only if someone could prove who it was.
And I'm waiting to see if the people who leaked Rush's information get prosecuted under those laws.
My "theory" is that since the prosecuter had Rush's medical records they knew about the Viagra, and have been looking for a way to leak that information without getting in trouble.
Sorry for being snappy. You are right, the official prescription is what matters, but if that doesn't match the label, then there is a pharmacist somewhere in a world of trouble... My point is that IF the doctor intentionally wrote the prescription in his own name to protect Rush's privacy as is claimed, then they are both in violation. Again, I abhor the Nanny-state and don't agree with this law, but this is an offence that people do get prosecuted for. It was very unwise of Rush to do this IMHO, considering what he has already been through.
