"Paul and Matthew are converts and they’re a bit much with the zealotry."

So was Peter, if you think about it. Indeed, probably all the apostles.

Right, but Matthew had lived a somewhat dissolute life and Paul was on his way to kill Christians. Peter was fisherman leading an oridary life. Matthew and Paul can be a bit like strident ex-smokers.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not denying their holiness, it’s just I identify with Peter. He was chosen by Christ to lead the church despite his denying Christ. Since I am a sinner, it’s nice to know, it’s not a barrier to salvation. It’s a testimony to Christ forgiveness and understanding.

Oh, I know what you mean, and agree.

But they were all Jews, and thus "coverts."

Just being a stickler. It's the Matthew in me.

They were all preaching the same thing.

Salvation is through the death and resurrection of Christ. It doesn't matter who WE are. It matters who HE is!

Forgive me, but Peter was not the head of the Church. Christ is the Head of the Church.
