implicitly recognizing Israel
In other words, NOT RECOGNIZING ISRAEL.

The plan also calls on militants to limit attacks to areas captured by Israel in the 1967 Mideast War and calls for formation of a coalition Palestinian government. I'm sure Israel will find the new 'limited targeting' acceptable.

This sounds like the guy who when setting his mouse trap realized he was out of cheese. He decided to see what would happen if he used a picture of a piece of cheese from a magazine ad. Next morning the trap had caught a picture of a mouse.
Noral of the story: if Hamas "implicitly" recognizes Israel, maybe continued aid should also be "implicit" (NOT explicit, i.e., real).

Nobody is stupid enough to believe this.

Israel has thrived without Arab recognition for decades. What are the Palestinians offering? A temporary ceasefire? Been there, done that. What's needed are not meaningless words but deeds. Deeds that prove the Palestinians are truly ready for peace with the Jewish State. That day is not here yet.

Moderate President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah ...A perfect example of an oxymoron. But then again, what would you expect of Associated Press?
To: Alouette
You're exactly right. They are just trying to satisfy the condition of recognizing Israel to get the money from US and others who demand it. If they get the money then it will be back to business-as-usual.
Half measures should avail you nothing.

>>Moderate President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah has been trying to coax his Hamas rivals into endorsing the document, which calls for a Palestinian state alongside Israel, in effect recognizing the Jewish state<<
Recognition is only important to the extent that Hamas and Fatah are not engaged in terrorism. Since Hamas showed this week they are still engaged in terrorism that trumps everything.
Does it matter if Bin laudin recognizes the u.S. or does it matter more that Al Quaeda is still killing people - its really the same.
