A plane carrying four people in bad weather crashed Monday morning in a remote part of central Pennsylvania, killing the pilot and injuring the three passengers, officials said.
The Piper Arrow was flying from Tennessee to Philipsburg, where it had been given clearance to land at 2:47 a.m., shortly before the crash, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Kaul Mitchell Wilson, 21, of Tennessee, was killed.
The National Weather Service said visibility in the area had dropped about a half-hour before the crash.
The three injured passengers, also from Tennessee, are Justin Hughes, 18; Fayez Abdel, 33; and Mohamed Abdel-Khalik, 31. They were taken to hospitals, said Lt. Linda Irwin, a Civil Air Patrol spokeswoman.
The plane was registered to Hastings Transportation System Inc., of Paducah, Ky. A listed number for the company could not immediately be located.
The National Transportation Safety Board was investigating.
You are implying...or we are to infer that...????
Don't worry. An official will come by shortly to assure us that this was not terrorism related.
I think the article has some names wrong. I think Fayez Abdel is the brother of Mohamed Abdel-Khalik and they are both lawyers of Egyptian extraction with a possible NAACP connection.
Muslims that is.
..A pity about such a nice plane going down.
Backwash of PA is really hostile to inexperienced pilots.
Finding a flat spot with no trees is tough.
LOL. . .
(and surely they had computers; so as we speak. . .)
Driven through the area many times, deadly for single engine aircraft with little altitude left on the clock!
Surely we will know more when the Company is contacted. . .
