PORT HUENEME, Calif. Authorities sealed off a Southern California port Monday afternoon after a possible terrorist threat was found scrawled in a cargo ship's hold, a port official said.
Authorities closed off the Port Of Hueneme in Ventura County after a dockworker discovered the message scrawled in marker on a metal pillar in the hold of a ship carrying bananas from Guatemala, said Will Berg, the port's marketing director.
Berg said message read: "This nitro is for you Mr. George W. Bush and your Jewish cronies."
Karl is it hot up there today?
Is this the port leased to communist china?
I doubt it, I would venture to guess that someone about as smart as the Miami 7 wrote it on there. But they still achieved something by closing down that portion of the port. You will probably see a few more. We used to get a lot of hoax bomb threats we still had to respond to.
Obviously passed through a Dubai controlled port in the last 3 months.
I live a few miles from there in Camarillo.
Anyone else close by see what looked like smoke from a fire?... I thought something bad had happened at the port, but it looks like that's a hoax now. I haven't seen anything about a fire (maybe it was just haze with dirt mixed in).
It's pronounced why.nee.me, and it's located on the Pacific coast between Los Angeles and Oxnard in Southern California.
BTW, it's not terribly far up the coast from the exclusive Malibu Colony where many Left-wing Hollywood types have exclusive beach homes.
Not the ripest bananas in the bunch, eh?
Not that hot...cooler than yesterday!
Pretty much so, they very seldom are. And great come back.
Right, the home of Seabees - only reason I knew where it was, how to spell it and how to pronounce it. I thought it had a nickname, but now I can't remember it. Unlike "Mugu Gai Pan."
many thanks! reading...
It's not obscure, Dog, but it also doesn't speak badly of you if you never heard of it before. Depends on where you lived in SoCal, and if you ever drove up the coast highway from around Santa Monica and/or Malibu toward Ventura and Santa Barbara.
I've lived in SoCal for 30 years, and I'm sure there are plenty of places here that I've never heard of, either. :)
Oh, BTW, it's one of those trick names. Not pronounced the way it looks, but pronounced why.nee.me.
I lived in Glendale, but I've made the trip up that road at least a couple of times. Mostly I took I-5 or highway 99 for n/s travels.
I'm just a little puzzled that I never heard of or noticed the place. Normally, I'm a geography freak. This port had some major stealth technology or I completely zoned out. I'm guessing the latter.
Let's hope they were evacuated to a holding cell for questioning, reflecting the same hospitality any banana republic would.
What is Michael Moore doing in Guatemala?
And who let him on board the banana boat?
More like Between LA and Santa Barbara.
I thought they were adjacent to each other?
It is rather obscure. I live in Central California and the only reason I had heard of it was because of an oral history tape from my husband's grandparents. I typed up the transcript of their stories and it took a long time to find "why-nee-me" on the map. :o)
