LONDON, June 25 (KUNA) -- British Soldiers serving in Iraq have been warned of the danger of insurgents using sophisticated electronic equipment to intercept their mobile phone calls and obtain the numbers of their wives and family at home in the UK, it was reported Sunday.
The UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) confirmed that there was concern over reports of a number of nuisance calls'' to servicemen's families.
But it played down suggestions that the calls had included death threats.
The Sunday Telegraph newspaper quoted a document sent to soldiers of the Territorial Army's (TA) London Regiment, which has soldiers fighting in Iraq.
The document warned that insurgents in southern Iraq had managed to obtain the home telephone numbers of British soldiers using electronic intercept devices.
It said there had been many instances in the last weeks of relatives and friends of personnel serving abroad on operations getting nuisance phone calls''.
The TA document advised personnel to be aware of the danger of nuisance calls if they used their mobiles to phone home.

Someboday call the ACLU -- we can't have this!!!
this is obviously a blatant abuse of power! this IS illegal wire tapping.. ACLU been notified yet?
Snicker, snicker, snicker
Sure we can. It's OK for the Islamopignazis to do this after all they're freedom fighters so a little wire tapping, a beheading here and there and the occasional blowing up of a skyscrapper is all fair game. Just don't let that eeeeeevil Bush listen in on terrorist phone calls or track thier money. They need that money to kill us afterall.

Desperation !
It's easy to make crank calls, NOT so easy to engage an American face-to-face!
F*** You ragheads, we spit on your kooran!
In the U.S. you can EASILY type in a phone number and get an up to date address for the person. Can this be done in England? If so, this could be VERY DANGEROUS for the families of servicemen.
