"Attorneys for The Rutherford Institute have agreed to represent a high school senior whose microphone was unplugged by school officials after she began to speak about her Christian beliefs during her valedictory address."
What insanity.

And yet, if she had quoted the "Vagina Monologues", she would not have been uncensored. Unbelieveable.

Did these school administrators crawl out from under a rock? I can't even think of how many Supreme Court Cases there are that strike down what they did. If I remember correctly, the Supreme Court just ruled against a school this term for censoring Jesus out of a student's artwork. This is no different and they should be reprimanded for what they did.

Our valedictorian gave the most packaged, predictable, PC speech possible. She said basically nothing.
Very shy girl, she was. I don't think she believed her own speech, she only wanted to get through it without drama.

I'm waiting for when they cut the camera during an interview of some sports athlete who happens to thank God or Jesus for help in his success.
Those days are coming.

I'm just curious were the schools Government teacher was in all this! I teach government at my school, and I would like to think that had they pulled a stunt like this I would have brought it to their attention that they would be violating the student's free speech rights.
It's like talking about Christianity is a violation of the law or something. I just read an article earlier today where a mall security guard placed a youth pastor under citizens arrest (with handcuffs) for going up and talking to people in the mall about Jesus.

The ACLU is a terrorist organization. If I recall, the ACLU was denied funds from an organization because it was seen as a terroristic/extremist organization.

I'm just curious were the schools Government teacher was in all this! Probably pulling the microphone's plug. How many conservative faculty members are typically in a school system? I'm glad your school system has one ;-)

Wonderful news.
That's what I've been waiting for. Praise God.
Thanks.

Sue the hell out of the socialist bastards.
In a free country, the Marxist swine at the ACLU would be in prison for shilling for totalitarianism.

Stop the ACLU? They aren't the ones suing the property tax payers of the school district. That would be Rutherford.

She might get a shot at something better than giving a valedictorian speech. It would be much better if they could overturn all at least some of the abuses perpetrated by the Warren Court and subsequent courts that try to remove religion from public life. Might even get her name on a landmark Supreme Court case.

I was going to say, "If she had praised allah, she'd have been given a medal," but your post works, too.
I wouldn't be suprised if more HS conservative speakers started walking up on stage, placing a three-inch strip of duct tape on their mouths, and started mumbling their speeches nationwide -to send a message.
Robin Williams did this (sorta) when he sang a song from the South Park movie, "Blame Canada."
