Good Grief! Wasn't the home in both their names? Shooting is too good for him.

uh might not have been. these are not long standing Americans, they are recent immigrants, and their culture is NOT THE SAME... I know of a lot of marriages where the wife is not owner of the home, but rather HIS mother is the co-owner of the property and will stand by her son no matter what...

I wondered also why the house wasn't in both of their names. Didn't people come to look at the house before buying? Something is odd. Anyway, with her MD degree, she should have no trouble finding a job.

Not necessarily.

Many foreign men treat their wives like chattel.

Some even value little boys, goats and cows above their wives .

Divorce in some countries is easy, all a person has to do is say I am done with you and the woman must leave.

"Good Grief! Wasn't the home in both their names? "

Maybe it's a cultural thing.
