After the clamor to legalize same-sex marriage, it turns out that not many homosexuals really want it.

I'm not surprised. I'm not sure how much longer heterosexuals are going to want marriage. For homosexuals, as with most heterosexuals, the sexual relationship is about getting yours. Marriage is about self sacrifice. Self Sacrifice is very unpopular these days, and not just among homosexuals.

Now, I know there will be people coming on the thread to tell me that homosexuals can do self sacrifice. That may be true, but while they're claiming they would rather force all of society to change than accept their status as an unusual minority group then I have a hard time accepting that.

Shalom.

Self Sacrifice is very unpopular these days, and not just among homosexuals.

Commitment lasts until someone more interesting steps into view. I often chuckle when someone suggests that a certain concept is new. They must not have read Ecclesiastes.

Ecclesiastes
Chapter 1
1
1 The words of David's son, Qoheleth, king in Jerusalem:
2
2 Vanity of vanities, says Qoheleth, vanity of vanities! All things are vanity!
3
3 What profit has man from all the labor which he toils at under the sun?
4
One generation passes and another comes, but the world forever stays.
5
The sun rises and the sun goes down; then it presses on to the place where it rises.
6
Blowing now toward the south, then toward the north, the wind turns again and again, resuming its rounds.
7
All rivers go to the sea, yet never does the sea become full. To the place where they go, the rivers keep on going.
8
4 All speech is labored; there is nothing man can say. The eye is not satisfied with seeing nor is the ear filled with hearing.
9
What has been, that will be; what has been done, that will be done. Nothing is new under the sun.
10
Even the thing of which we say, "See, this is new!" has already existed in the ages that preceded us.

This whole issue is another example of a war-by-proxy. Marxists are always looking for "oppressed classes" to serve as convenient cover for their activities and the "Gay Rights Movement" is a prime example of this. These "marriage" statistics are only surprising to those who naively believe that the "Gay Rights Movement" is actually speaking for the the group they purport to represent.

Most gays simply want to live their lives in peace, and you can find gays in all walks of life and in all strata of society. The radical left, however, has infiltrated and co-opted every political organization which began with an actual interest in promoting tolerance and has turned it into just another strident front-group for the Marxist agenda. This includes the "Human Rights Campaign", the "Log Cabin Republicans", and a good part of the Democratic party itself.

A clue to this has been the gradual substitution of "LGBT" (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered) for "Gay" in the political rhetoric coming from these groups over the past decade. Always on the lookout to enlarge the range of "oppressed classes" they can "represent", Marxists have no particular interest in the individuals which may comprise them save the role they can play in advancing the "class struggle". "Marriage rights" is just the latest cynical example of this. As has been pointed out, were "gay marriage" to become the norm the only beneficiaries would be divorce laywers and those committed to tearing down the foundations of traditional society.

Marriage exists for the benefit of the children which are its natural byproduct, not for the adults who enter into it. It is an intergenerational covenant made by society and blessed by all faiths and unless understood in this context makes no sense. And this is why the "gay marriage" oxymoron is obviously a cover for a deeper (and sadly, more sinister) political agenda.
