Your buddy Dick does know that Jack Murtha enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1952 and served in Korea doesn't he. He then rose to a drill instructor and then onto OCS.

I have no use for his political views but I'd give him a tad more for his military than your bud Dick does.

If he was as "active" in Korea as he was in Vietnam, I wouldn't lean much on those three years in Korea. If he was just a staff officer there too, what's it matter if he was there? That's not combat either. Four active duty years is a far cry from the 37 years he claims to have served in the military. And Congressman Bailey's comments about Abscam and Murtha admitting his Purple Hearts are a fraud are the most damning thing.

The guy Dick isn't the one that sent it to me, I got it from a friend Ron, who served several tours in Vietnam, NOT as some staff officer. He does a pretty thorough job of fact checking before sending things along. His son is in Iraq right now and has been most of the past two years.

Given the lies that have already been exposed about Murtha, and now this with Abscam and knowing he was a hairs bredth away from being indicted himself, I don't see why anyone should give him anything, especially since he went over to Vietnam ONLY to be a staff officer. The only bravery that took was to be brave enough to take the battery of shots to protect fromm malaria, etc. Anyone can do that.

I agree with you. I don't care for Murtha's views, but I see no reason to tear down the man's service record. This is bad policy that undermines the honor of all the men who served this country.

It just doesn't seem right to rip on him for only being an Intelligence Officer in Vietnam when Bush was never there in any capacity.

My uncle was in Intel Officer in Korea. Although its not nearly as bad as being on the front lines, he says it was no walk in the park either.

Feel free to attack Murtha's comments, politics and opinions..... leave the man's record alone.

Concur. He is a pure scumbag politician, but he did serve, which is more than I can say for most people I know, and I'm sure a lot of those griping on this board.

Even with that in mind, he should be tried as a traitor.
