Two pieces of driftwood bumping together in the creek is what this is.

With its open primary, loaded with Dem crossover votes, I can see why two RINOs like McCain and Romney could think that Michigan is a prime hunting ground.
McCain won the state in 2000, with the help of lots of liberal Dems.
Lot of good it did him.
If the GOP were stupid enough to nominate either one of these two, the leftist or the traitor, it would spell the beginning of the end of the Grand Old Party.
But it won't happen. Michigan is an anomoly.

Except in 2008 the Dems are going to have a huge fight on their hands and will not be free to cross over like they did in 2000. In 2000 Bradley was toast from the start. In 2008 the Dems just might actually go 15 rounds

Those same Christian conservatives who make up the Republican base may dislike McCain even more than Mormonism. I am not sure there are words to describe how much I dislike him.
And I'm Jewish.

This view has a lot to do with the two frontrunners, Senator John McCain of Arizona and Governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts. RINO vs RINO

I don't like either and it has nothing to do with their respective religions.

So apparently only Romney and McCain are running? Or is that just in the delusional world of this author?

The Weakly Standard is forgetting about George Allen.
The grass roots Republicans in Michigan wont work, or vote, for McCain or Romney.
Yob can go pound sand.

I thought it was rather amazing that this article could go so deeply into the dynamics of the 2008 primaries without mentioning Allen.

Well, I work all year, every year for Michigan Republicans, and we wont be supporting either of those slugs. Not for POTUS.
I was supporting GWB in 98, and I'm supporting George Allen now.
I never bet on losers or slugs!
PS...Dick Devos will be Michigan's next Governor.

The writer wishes the choice were only between Romney and McCain. Fortunately for us we will have a real conservative to vote for.
Who do you dislike more, Romney or McCain?
To: Beagle8U
I am a Michigan Republican voter; rest assured I will vote for neither of these RINOs.

Chuck Yob, the longtime Republican national committeeman from Michigan and arguably the biggest political kingmaker in the state... King-maker? One only needs to look at how the Republicans are handling the senate race here to know that there is no king-maker. There are nothing but battling factions that cost Republicans on the national scene.
