Don't worry, Cannon won't get any mileage out of his victory, assuming he wins.
He'll be under pressure by House Republicans and conservatives in his district.
A Cannon primary victory over Jacob is more like a stay of execution than an actual mandate for "comprehensive" immigration reform.

Cannon's rhetoric on the issue has tacked a bit it seems to me. He now chats about illegals having to go home to get in line to come back, which is Jacob's position (albeit Jacob has this fast track thingie he came up with, which sounds like a bit of a waste of fossil fuels to me).

Chris Cannon's past voting record on immigration issues and his comparitive support for legal and illegal immigrants alike, is pretty pathetic. And Cannon does make a habit of talking out both sides of his mouth. OTOH, Cannon voted in favor of HR4437, while JD Hayworth voted against it. In addition, Cannon's overall voting record has supported the conservative position a majority of the time. According to the ACU, that equals a 97% conservative lifetime voting record. Its critical that the words and actions of all conservatives remained focused on what's best for America, today and in the future.

I am hoping that he sees the handwriting on the wall...I'm in Bishop's district, and never paid enough attention to Cannon.
