Jacob is going to get smacked around on Tuesday. I don't know why all the anti-immigration people like him so much, Tancredo included. He's really no different from Cannon on the issue.
Plus he's just a nut, and that was obvious even before the "Satan is Keeping Me From Washington" remarks.
Nut or not, the MSM and the Republican pro-amnesty elites will say that a Cannon victory proves that Americans and all "smart" Republicans support amnesty and the rest are kooks and racists. Electoral sucess by Bilbray and Hazleton and Herndon will be dismissed by all the talking heads.
Given that the polls are before the publicizing of the remark, we should get some clue of the impact of the remark on the voters. The conventional wisdom appears to be that it will have little or no impact. We shall see.
Bingo!
It's not that we like Jacobs. You're right, he's unsuited for office. It's that we despise Cannon. Taking down one of the most influential opponents of sane immigration policy in Congress would be a huge victory for our cause.
Jacobs, it is true, is a bit nutty. But if elected, he'll be a nobody: a freshman congressman from a backwater district with virtually no influence. He's not going to be in much of a position to do much damage. Electing such a loser to a 2 year term is a small price to pay for taking down a big fish like Cannon.
