Islam doesn't recognize the inherent dignity of humanity, or the rights of individuals who are not members of their specific faith and sub-group. Any atrocity visited on non-believers is acceptable.
Now, in the old Testament, you could get a death sentence for a whole stack of infractions, and King Saul's grievous fault was not killing each and every Man, Woman and child. So, one could argue, the book doesn't make the religion. But, the problem of Islam is its connection to all manner of evil that is long and varied as the years since the days of the Prophet.
