You are mistaken. They both sucked s**t when I was in college...25 years ago...nothing's changed...
Pity, if New Jersey REALLY wants a musical role model they only need look to this man....
These musicians don't really give fans of their music much choice.
If they want to go to the concert, then it means that they have to listen to political commentary (on their own dime and time), and political commentary to which they are not allowed to respond.
So I don't see that conservative fans really have much choice but to stay home.
I recently went to a local venue to hear two folk artists. The first one was great. The second one was a guy from Canada who was really different and good, but halfway through the show, he decided that the would do a Bash-Bush song called 'Junior' and I swear it wasn't even original. It was a bunch of strung together cliched 'Bush lied people died' type lyrics. OK, there were some in the audience who obviously liked it and cheered. But there were a lot of us who just sat there, and of course out of politeness, you just sit there and they get to have their say.
But as soon as he was done, a good bunch of us just high-tailed it out of there. Normally at these things, the audience stays and talks to the artist and buys their CDs. but this guy lost at least half his audience, and that amounted to several hundred dollars in CD sales.
As did Pete Seeger when I went to college 40 years ago. Both Jane Fondites.
