ROCKVILLE, Md. - Citing depression, Montgomery County Executive Doug Duncan withdrew from the Maryland governor's race Thursday afternoon, News4 reported. Duncan made the announcement at a 2 p.m. news conference in Rockville.

"It's difficult for me to announce today that I will no longer be a candidate for governor of Maryland, but it's the right decision for me, for my family and for our state," he said.

During his campaign and pre-campaign, Duncan said, he struggled with what has recently been diagnosed as depression.

"At first, I attributed this to the stress of the campaign," Duncan said. "But over the past couple months, it became clear to me, my wife, Barbara, our family, our closest supporters that this was more than the usual wear and tear of the campaign trail."

Duncan said his family has a history of depression.

I guess he got depressed after he finally realized that he had virtually no chance of winning the election in November...

Well, whatever this guy's politics, if he really is suffering from depression, I hope he gets help and treatment for it. It's not something to be trifled with.

I know a poor deluded idiot that thought Duncan could win. I think he was shocked when I told him that even in Maryland Duncan didn't have a snowball's chance.

Yes, Duncan is a dem. However, I think that the DEM party in Md. made him get out of the race because he is not resigning from his current county executive position.

The party favorite is Martin O'Malley. It was starting to look like Duncan was going to beat O'Malley in the primary. So the party had to step in.

Oh--dopy me! Maryland! I'd forgotten that's where Steele is running. Yes indeed, Steele for governor!

The poster corrected himself.

Steele is running for US Senate.

As for the Governor's race, the current REPUBLICAN governor is running for re-election.

Damn, I wanted MOM and Duncan to beat up on each other for a while in the DEM primary.

So now it is going to be Steele against O'Mally? This should be interesting.

Clearly I know absolutely nothing about Maryland politics! I think I'll hold off contributing any more valuable insights on the subject. Thanks for the corrections.

Steele is runnig for the Senate seat being vacated by Sarbanes, several dems in that primary. Erlich, a longtime U. S. House member from the Baltimore suburbs, stands a good chance of being re-elected.

Ehrlich has done an amazing job as Governor, It hasnt been easy with Mike Miller the Dem POS fighting him all the way.

O'Malley is the Democrats choice, He sucks. Cant even run Baltimore. Much less the State.

Steele for Senator.
Ehrlich for Governor.

"O'Malley is the Democrats choice, He sucks. Cant even run Baltimore. Much less the State."

Watch out. Look at us fools in Virginia. We said the same thing about the leftist mayor of Richmond, and now, he's governor. Ugh. Shame on the base here who stayed home at that election.
