After 9/11, Vice President Richard Cheney seized the initiative. He pushed to expand executive power, transform America's intelligence agencies and bring the war on terror to Iraq. But first he had to take on George Tenet's CIA for control over intelligence.

Last night I sat and watched all 90 minutes of this massive propaganda effort, undoubtedly financed by tax revenues through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. I looked for a single instance of balance in the nature of facts reported on the other side of the allegations being made. Unfortunately, what I saw repeatedly was one side only of issues relating to the reasons for invading Iraq, the Valerie Plame fiasco and related Libby indictment fiasco, up and down the line. The whole video is available for watching online, and more extensive interviews of the online personalities are at the link. Many, maybe most, of the sources are the CIA people who were busted out by Goss. Also, Wilson, Clarke, Powell's deputy, et al. I believe this is the first airing of this show, since it is on the main page of Frontline. Anyone else see it?

I saw part of this. I find it hilarious that the CIA is never ever to blame for anything... it's always the Office of the President or the Military. The all powerful CIA could never be wrong on anything!
These clowns have been so wrong so many times that I doubt that I wouldn't trust them to drive a car let alone with our nations security. My favorite is the that fat woodchuck looking weasel who has profitted by writing several books... What a POS. He was personally charged with monitoring OBL and he blames EVERYBODY but himself.

What would be funny if this propaganda weren't so appalling is to see the left blindly defending the CIA...... guess they didn't get the memo of talking points saying the CIA is evil.....

If it is "PBS" it must be supporters of terrorist. The CIA, under Clinton, in my opinion of what I have read was nothing but a holding place for left-wing Democrats as can now be seen from their committed felons in releasing (leaking) classified information to help the enemy.

One of George Bush's biggest mistakes was in not firing Tenet right off the bat.

I'd like to see a documentary about how Clinton-Gore changed the CIA's role from gathering intelligence on other nations and political groups to spying on international business. This change in missions was announced publicly by the administration in the 90's after the Cold War. This intelligence effort was supposed to aid American corporations and formulate trade decisions but I would guess it was distributed selectively to Democrat-friendly industries and individuals--like George Soros who was allowed to become a virtual robber baron in the former Soviet bloc.

there are limits to Freedom of the press in time of war. PBS should be shut down, along with the rest of the traitorous MSM.

I was astounded at the total one-sidedness of this "documentary" puff piece that could have been made by Joseph Wilson himself.
Not one opposing viewpoint, no investigation of Wilson and Plame's ties to the anti-GWB re-election cabal...nothing.
What a farce, and I'm sure it was paid for with our tax dollars.
Makes me wonder who won, after Goss and Fogg got fired and the guys THEY had fired all came sweeping back in...seems like the "good ol' boys" got rid of the reformers and took back the Tenet/Wilson crew.

I saw an add for this on townhall.com today. It was very irritating to have to have it on my computer screen.

I didn't see it, but the TV reviewer for the Seattle Times gave it a rave review yesterday. Based on what he said, I concluded the piece was unbalanced and dishonest. If the review was correct, the show was claiming that Cheney bamboozled the public into believing that Iraq was behind 9/11. Of course, Cheney never made that claim, and the main arguments for the war were Iraq's violation of the various U.N. sanctions. This is not ancient history, and anyone with a brain should easily remember it. So the show was blatant historic revisionism.

I watched all of it and of course it was a "Cheney is evil" hit piece. Remember when they listed all the things the CIA has missed over the years, starting with the fall of Communism, the attacks at Lebanon, the rise of the Mullah's in Iran, etc...the list went on and on and on. No wonder Cheney does not trust the CIA, they have gotten nothing right since I have been alive.
All the show was was a stage for the CIA to say they did nothing wrong when in fact, everyone knows that if they had just done one thing right in the last 35 years, 9/11 may not have happened. I will trust Cheney and Pres. Bush any day over the CIA.

I was stunned to hear how they were saying that Rumsfield was being evil and manipulative because he wouldn't leave THE CIA IN CHARGE OF COMBAT OPERATIONS IN AFGANISTAN?????? OMG! This program was a rogues gallery of the CIA officers who Porter Goss gave the boot.
The point of the special CIA good. The elected administration.. venal screw ups scheming to control the policy and armed forces of the United States. HUH?

I was listening out of the corner of my ear while I did other stuff on my computer. Here's my post from last night:
previous thread.
Worst points: incredible amount of ominousness. No hint that the Coalition may have done the right thing, or even that anybody still thinks so. Letting Joe Wilson have his say with -incredibly- no qualifying as to his fat lies.
All that said, in some ways the documentary does tend to dispute the more outrageous exotic claims of antiwar moonbats. The Administration is shown to be acting in the way they believe is best.
