If you'd take the time to read the whole thread you'd learn I don't have any particular bias against Kansas. I DO have a bias against fools (who claim to live in Kansas) who say they "can't wait" for California to have a terrible killer earthquake in which thousands of people could die. And I have a problem with being called an "idiot." Other than that I'm a pretty laid-back California kind of guy, just trying to get along.
Pocatello gets quakes occasionally. The Wasatch, Tetons and Wellsvilles got there somehow. IIRC, there is a fault line thru the Portneuf Gap.
I wouldn't be surprised. My oldest son is aiming to be a paleontologist. He has quite an affinity for geology. That's a necessity if you hope to have a clue with regard to the age of things you're digging up. Pokey is a great spot for a geologist.
