There's a lot of ambiguity on this fact in the church; I know a lot of folks who believe the good Hindu, Jew, etc., can achieve salvation as well as many souls after death as Christ (according to Scripture) did descend into the dead to do just that... (I have mixed feelings on this myself).
"Feelings" are the hallmark of liberal "thought". It does not seem "fair" that a believer in a supreme being, who has never heard of Jesus Christ but who tries to live up to the highest ethical standards, should be eternally condemned. And was God's covenant with the Jews canceled by Jesus's new covenant with all who believe in Him?
And then, of course, there is Islam, in which lying and killing for the advancement of the "faith" is a good thing. Would they get the same pass as a righteous Hindu?
Either we believe in the Biblical promise of salvation, or we do not. Our duty is to spread the word, that those who accept Him will be saved.

Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in and through no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by and in which we must be saved.
Even in the situation which causes your "mixed feelings," it was Jesus Christ who did the saving. These fellows have denied Christ. They should no longer call themselves Christians.
Such reasoning isn't very intimidating and therefore not as good for recruiting, as opposed to telling someone they'll burn in hell for eternity if you don't join us.
The name Jesus is derived from the phrase "god saves." Just thought I would throw that in.
It's the spotless Blood of The Lamb that saves. Jesus shed that for all on the cross. one cannot proclaim Jesus is Lord after death - because that is where one gets it's just rewards. We decide our own fate by our choices here and now. Besides, if they didn't want to serve and praise Our Savior here, why would they want to be with Him for all eternity!
Don't be misled, as you can see there are many false doctrines out there to deceive. Stay the course.
IOW, there are a lot of people who do not know the Bible.
