The University of Abertay, Dundee is taking the lead in training the next generation of computer security experts by offering Britain's first degree course in "ethical" computer hacking.
Not just anyone can take the Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures course. Applicants will have to go through Home Office and Foreign Office security clearance to take the course, so that the University doesnt produce hackers with malicious intent.
According to a report by The Times, hacking accounts for £10 billion in damage to British firms alone, and poses a global terrorist threat.
The course operates on the premise that it takes a thief to catch a thief.

as a computer geek with 20 years experience I think hackers do a great service in finding weaknesses, even if it is for their own enjoyment or to prove their geekliness... it is whne they purposefully release code to cause damage that they should be line up and shot.
Anyone finding a bug and REPORTING it should be rewarded. It would encourage more behavior like that.
Make the choice release it and possibly go to jail, or report it and get rewarded.

Agreed.
I just wanna know, is that ethical?
What is the IP address range of their servers?
Maybe.
My IP address is 127.0.0.1. I dare any hacker to wipe my harddrive.
