Kind of an odd story linking London's 7/7 bombers to the "paintball jihadis" in Falls Church. As expected, the notorious Dar al Hijra mosque makes an appearance, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were recruiting there (9/11 terrorists made connections at Dar al Hijra for their phony IDs). Finally, there's no jihadi activity at Falls Plaza, it's mostly on the opposite side of Falls Church in Bailey's Crossroads.

Yesterday a 19 year old Egyptian from Vienna, VA deliberately and with malice aforethought drove an automobile into a crowd of nightclubbers in Glen Cove, Long Island while shouting "I'll kill you all."

Imam Joharri is angered that the FBI did not approach community leaders to discuss concerns that extremists from Britain and elsewhere were trying to recruit youngsters from the area. If the authorities knew this was going on, why werent we warned? he asked. I'll give you one guess. ;)

Falls Church has a large Muslim community. In fact Northern VA as a whole has a huge Muslim community. This link comes as no surprise.

Isn't Falls Church mostly just a suburb of DC? When I was there a couple years ago, I never got the feeling I was in a small town!

the city of falls church is a small town.
2.2 sq miles to be exact. we're surrounded
by "suburbialand" so it's a bit deceiving.

There's the City Of Falls Church, which is an incorporated municipality and, yes, a "small town". Then there's a surrounding suburban sprawl better called the Zip Code Of Falls Church.
The "paintball jihadis" operated from a storefront mosque that was actually within the city limits, but the vast majority of the Muslim and jihadi presence is near Bailey's Crossroads, which is technically within the Falls Church zip code but quite alien in every other respect.

If I lived there, I'd be watching. Closely.

There exist two - The City of Falls Church, 2.2 square miles, and the surrounding environs, which are part of Fairfax County. The entire area is referred to as Falls Church.

NPR Special Report: Muslims in America Part One: Profiling the Proud Americans of 'Little Mecca'"In a part of Falls Church known to many as Little Mecca, the streets are lined with Arabic grocery stores, coffee houses and restaurants. At nearby J.E.B. Stuart High School, Muslims make up 12 percent of the student body. The streets of this tightly knit Muslim community are also home to the offices of professionals -- doctors, lawyers, technology consultants, managers -- who often gather together for evening prayers."

Falls Church may be small in area, but it is part of big city America. The title is misleading.

Agreed, and it's also a little strange to be reporting the story from Falls Plaza (jihadi presence = zero) rather than Bailey's Crossroads, which has at least two Muslim shopping malls, Dar al Hijra mosque, and all kinds of jihadi organizations.
