I've never forgiven the media for showing the videos of our dead soldiers being dragged through the streets of Mogadishu. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Every mother, father, wife, etc., was probably wondering if it was their child who was the one being dragged. I never saw anything so reprehensible and irresponsible in my whole life.
That was unforgettable.
It's hard for me to know how these moments should be handled by the media. We know a "picture is worth a thousand words"...without visual impact there's not as much public outcry- resulting in pressure being put on those in power to DO SOMETHING. On the other hand- the exploitation of our beloved soldiers in death is vile.
What I HATE is the nearly gleeful attitude the media shows when they tell/show us these things...
