(Border Patrol Union)
Local 2544 has learned that there will be no new patrol vehicles purchased for the Border Patrol in fiscal year 2006. Unless something changes you will be driving the same junk vehicles again next year. All the money has been earmarked for Katrina spending. 09-15-05

Local Police Department Problems- During incidents in the last several weeks there have been two disturbing encounters with area police departments. An off-duty Border Patrol agent was hit by an illegal alien who ran a stop sign in Tucson. During the Tucson Police Department's investigation, the off-duty agent, who happened to be unarmed, asked the officer to hold the other driver because he suspected she was an illegal alien. The agent also informed the officer that a uniformed Border Patrol agent was enroute to the accident scene to interview the suspected illegal alien. The police officer refused to hold the illegal alien even though the uniformed agent was just minutes away. Had the off-duty agent been armed and in possession of his credentials he could have made the arrest himself. The officer apparently had no pressing reason not to detain the illegal alien, he just flat refused to do it. Now that's inter-agency cooperation for you folks.........In the other incident, a Sierra Vista Police officer stopped an off-duty Border Patrol agent for speeding. The agent was under the impression he was going to get a speeding citation (as would be expected under normal circumstances, even considering that such a violation is a "misdemeanor"). Then, the officer asked the agent where he worked. Afterwards, the officer sent a message to his superior, bragging "Guess what I've got? A BPA doing 50 in a 25." The officer's superior sent a gleeful message back stating "Cool!!! Bring him in." The agent was subsequently ARRESTED. Had the agent not been forced to identify himself as a Border Patrol agent he likely would have been cited and released. We do not condone speeding, however we question how many average citizens would have been arrested and hauled off because of this speeding violation. updated on 2-27-06
Politics of the Illegal Immigration "Crackdown" - There is an an interesting opinion piece on the politics behind the "crackdown" on illegal immigration. As usual, we are the pawns getting rocked and shot at while the politicians and others play their games. Oh, by the way, it's no longer a "guest worker program", it's now a "pathway to citizenship". Both equal AMNESTY for illegal alien lawbreakers, but doesn't "pathway to citizenship" have a nicer ring to it? Much better term to shove down the throats of Americans who think our laws should actually be enforced. We feel better already. Next time you dodge a bottle, a rock, or a bullet down on the line, just think of the violator as being a tad overzealous to get on the "pathway to citizenship". This should make you feel better. Read the opinion piece here. 04-28-06

I think you misread my post #10. I replied to the guy who didn't believe what is really going on at the border.

See my post #11. I am sorry, but the Border Patrol takes it's orders from whom? From the guy who is for open borders.
